I’ve mentioned plenty of times before about my love for bargain hunting, but I seem to be going through a furniture phase since I rescued the orange desk from my neighbors curb. While my husband was enjoying the Monterey Beer Festival with some friends, I was out on a mission. I didn’t know exactly what that mission was until I spotted this beauty at LCM (Last Chance Mercantile). Meet Ophelia:
When my husband called me and asked me what I was doing, I told him that I was driving to the local city dump (LCM is at the local waste management). “Did you just say dump?” The shock in his voice was hilarious, but the look on his face when he saw what I bought at “the dump” was PRICELESS. For $10, I couldn’t walk away. Check out what I was dealing with… two layers of velvet with a mysterious musty smell. Yuck!
One of my favorite blogs is by Kate of Centsational Girl and I remembered reading a blog she wrote about refinishing a chair. So as soon as I got home, I started reading and found the blog entry HERE. I used her tutorial to refinish my chair and I’m in love!
I love the shape of the legs. So feminine, yet sturdy. Plus, I can’t resist furniture painted in my favorite shade of heirloom white. Can you tell that I really love this chair?
Her backside is just as beautiful. This was a little trickier to do. Measuring the cardboard and cutting it to fit just right into the space was a little more difficult than I thought, but I’m happy with how it turned out.
Want to see Ophelia again? Here she is!
