Melissa from Honey Bee Hollistics is a nature loving, super successful shop owner and SAHM based out of the Seattle area (oh how I miss living there). She’s so down to Earth, friendly, and honest. Check out my interview with her.
Hey Melissa! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a First time Mom who has found a way to stay at home while running a business! I have been building my business for over 4 1/2 years now. I Love chocolate, coffee, ice cream, almond milk, essential oils, herbs and living in the country!
Who or what inspires you to create?
My daughter, Aria Rae. She is 14 months now and I am so thankful everyday that I get to wake up and be the one who takes care of her. I have given up splurges, and a long standing Retail Sales Position to take on the hardest job of all, being a MOM! She is my reason for what I do. She has changed me and my outlook on life so much. She is my reason to keep going when I feel like stopping♥
Your daughter is too cute!
How do you do it? How do you juggle life as a SAHM and running your own business?
Juggling is a talent. Being a SAHM and running a business is a talent! It takes planning and organiztion to keep it all together. I get up early in the morning to complete orders, make products, write thank you notes. Then when she is awake, she plays at my feet as I get tasks completed. She is so good!
I need in on your secret. How do you get out of creative ruts?
I take a trip to the beach or the river. Nothing like sitting in the sand listening to the waves crash on shore, or the constant rushing of the river splashing cold mist on your face. Nature is what helps me clear my mind so I can unlock my creative potential!
Sounds so peaceful! I want to live where you live… really, I do.
Any advice to other moms out there considering opening their own Etsy shop or small business?
Plan accordingly! Do something you love! Take notes and dive in! You don’t know what you can do unless you try! Read books, chat with other Etsyians, join a team….. You just have to take the first step, the rest is easy after that!
Thanks Melissa! Her shop is filled with amazing organic products, she even has a Mama & Baby Collection. You can find her goodies at Honey Bee Hollistics on Etsy.
