I don’t know what bath time is like for your family, but baths are kind of a big deal around these parts. It’s rare for anyone over the age of two to be taking anything other than a shower. I’m all about efficiency and there is nothing efficient about a toddler taking a bath. We usually give into a bubble bath once a week and these sudsy bathtub finger “paints” are a fun tub time activity.
Oh, legalities. Wholesale Supplies Plus sent me their Bath Tub Paints Kit to review. I’ve been looking forward to this one because it doubles up as both a bathtub finger paint as well as a foaming bath whip. Which means my kid is getting clean while she plays. Win win.
The kit contains everything below as well as a supercool hairnet, gloves and face mask that make you look like a super rad lunch lady (or dude).
You’ll also need a hand mixer, mixing bowl, measuring spoons, 3 drinking glasses and 3 sandwich size ziplock bags.
First, I scooped the entire tub of foaming bath whip into my mixing bowl. Not going to lie. The consistency and smell reminded me of Crisco. Don’t know why. I’m just weird like that.
I then added a couple tablespoons of olive oil and shower gel and beat it with my mixer.
It took about three minutes to get all the lumps out and looked a lot like school glue at this point.
Didn’t smell like much of anything either. That’s when the yummy grape soda fragrance oil gets added. I’m not sure who their fragrance mixologist/chemist is, but nail on the head with this scent. So much so that my husband came home and asked me if we had been drinking grape soda.
The mixture was ready to be colored after a few more minutes with the mixer to combine the oil. The directions called for the mixture to be split up into 3 bowls to be colored. I don’t have time for extra dishes. So I grabbed three drinking glasses and put a ziplock baggie in each one. I added six drops of color to each portion, squeezed out the excess air before sealing the bag and rolling the bag between my hands like a ball to incorporate all the color. So easy.
I cut a tiny little corner off on each bag which made squeezing it into the tubes a breeze. I decided to do them all layered instead of separate colors in each. After I filled them all up, I dubbed them “unicorn poop”. Simply because it smelled good and was colorful (which I assume unicorn poop would be). Then my husband reminded me not to say that because our three year old will start thinking that its okay to rub the real stuff on walls. Touché sir!
The stuff sticks the the tub walls like whoa, making finger painting super easy. It doesn’t stain like some of the other stuff I’ve used in the bathtub and have since banned. The “paint” was a little difficult for my daughter to squeeze out, so you might want to substitute a softer bottle. Perhaps a recycled condiment bottle?
So if you want to make your own “unicorn poop” ….. errrr…. I mean sudsy bathtub finger paint, you can either enter the giveaway below or order from Wholesale Supplies Plus directly. Yay freebies!
This giveaway is limited to US entries only and will end on September 30th. Good luck lovelies!
